Is Sardines safe in pregnancy?
Generally safe
Yes — excellent source of omega-3 and calcium.
What the evidence says
Sardines are safe and one of the best pregnancy foods. Tinned sardines (with bones) also provide calcium. Include as part of the recommended 1–2 oily fish portions per week.
Why this matters
Sardines provide omega-3, protein, vitamin D, and calcium — all important in pregnancy. Because they are small fish low in the food chain, mercury levels are very low.
