Is Nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews, pistachios) safe in pregnancy?
Generally safe
Yes — all nuts are safe unless you have an allergy.
What the evidence says
All nuts are safe in pregnancy unless you personally have a nut allergy. They are excellent sources of healthy fats, protein, magnesium, and folate. Brazil nuts are particularly good for selenium — 1–2 per day is plenty (more can give too much selenium).
Why this matters
Nuts are one of the most nutritionally dense foods. Previous advice to avoid them in pregnancy has been reversed — eating nuts may reduce the baby’s allergy risk.
