Is Cooked ham (packet) safe in pregnancy?
Generally safe
Yes — pre-cooked packaged ham is safe.
What the evidence says
Pre-cooked ham sold in sealed packets from supermarket chillers is safe throughout pregnancy. Gammon steaks are safe when cooked through. Deli-counter sliced ham carries slightly higher Listeria risk — eat quickly after purchase or heat through before eating.
Why this matters
Packaged cooked ham is heat-treated before packaging. Risk arises with prolonged exposure at deli counters.
