Is Pâté (all types) safe in pregnancy?

Best avoided

Avoid all types of pâté during pregnancy.

What the evidence says

All types of pâté should be avoided in pregnancy, including meat, fish, and vegetable pâtés. This includes pâté from a tin, jar or deli.

Why this matters

Pâté can contain high levels of vitamin A (from liver content), which in excess can harm the baby. It also carries a Listeria risk.
