Is Mascarpone safe in pregnancy?

Generally safe

Yes — mascarpone is safe if made from pasteurised milk.

What the evidence says

Mascarpone is safe in pregnancy when made from pasteurised milk (as nearly all UK shop-bought mascarpone is). Watch for mascarpone in traditional tiramisu — it is usually fine, but the tiramisu itself may contain raw egg, which is only safe with British Lion eggs.

Why this matters

Pasteurised mascarpone carries no Listeria risk. The concern with desserts using mascarpone is usually the raw egg, not the cheese.
