Is Magnesium supplements safe in pregnancy?
Generally safe
Yes — at normal doses; useful for some pregnancy symptoms.
What the evidence says
Magnesium supplements at normal doses (200–400 mg daily) are safe in pregnancy. They are sometimes recommended for leg cramps, constipation, or sleep support. Avoid mega-doses. Magnesium sulfate ("Epsom salts") for leg cramping baths is also fine externally.
Why this matters
Moderate magnesium supplementation is safe and often beneficial in pregnancy. Very high doses can affect blood pressure.
