Is Energy drinks safe in pregnancy?
Best avoided
Avoid — high caffeine and other stimulants make these unsuitable.
What the evidence says
Energy drinks should be avoided in pregnancy. They contain high levels of caffeine (often over the 200 mg daily pregnancy limit in a single can) and often additional stimulants and sugars.
Why this matters
High caffeine intake is associated with low birth weight and miscarriage risk. Other stimulants in energy drinks have not been evaluated for pregnancy safety.
