Is Raw cookie dough safe in pregnancy?

Two risks: raw egg and raw flour.

What the evidence says

Cookie dough has two pregnancy concerns. The raw egg is safe if using British Lion eggs, but raw flour itself can contain E. coli and should be avoided uncooked. "Edible cookie dough" products in shops are made with heat-treated flour and pasteurised egg, so those are safe. Home-made cookie dough should only be eaten after baking.

Why this matters

Raw flour has caused E. coli outbreaks. Raw egg carries Salmonella risk unless Lion-marked.
